In the beginning..

Do you know what happened in the beginning of times?

Do you know how was the universe formed?

Who put the sun, moon and stars in the heaven?

Who created earth and its inhabitant?

Ever you ever heard about Noah and the ark? Do you know that before the Noah's time, the earth has never rained before?

God often call himself the 'God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob'. Do you know who these 3 persons are?

We called the land of Israel the Holy land. Do you know God loves Israel more than any other nation in this whole earth. In fact, when Jesus comes back the second time, He is going to make Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel, the world capital city during the Milennium period. Do you have any idea why? In fact many of the stories in the Bible were set in the land of Israel.

To understand it all, as Christ followers, we need to go back in time through the Bible to gain knowledge and revelation of what God has done n what He is doing and what He is going to do. Yes, the past, present and future.

And the first book in the Bible, the book of Genesis, written by Moses, provides many answers to questions where sctientists around the world could not figured out.

From this season on, as a cell, we will focus from this first book of the Old Testament, Genesis as part of our daily devotion to the Lord. During cell group time, we will study through and help you to apply Christians truths into your life.

On a personal basis, I challenged you to read at least 3 chapters a day. In less than 20 days, you would finish the 50 chapters in book of Genesis. With this, I believe you will have a very good understanding to the questions in life.

I pray in the name of Jesus that God help you to have the hunger to want to know Him more by reading and praying through this season of studying the Word of God. Let's love God by loving His Word. Amen!

PS: I will share on this blog things that i think will be useful to understandin Genesis better. Stay tune!

Hi guys,

We will be going to watch the Drama Show (Mandarin speaking) together on Sat , 22nd Aug 09, 3pm to 430pm. the show " Life No Take 2'! is acted by TCS artistes and as the title suggest, the storyline is on Life -its meaning and purpose, living a life without regret.. anyway its like an entertainment show, so its meaningful and relax one.!

Meeting place: Boon Lay MRT
Meeting Time : 1pm

We aim to reach Bukit Merah TCT , nearest MRT is Redhill Station by 230pm to go in and book GOOD seats! its free seating!

I will meet some of you at Jurong point for tuition and fellowship at about 11am. Pls contact me if you wan to join me.

A brand new service time!

Hi guys, FCBC has opened up a SATURDAY night service in the West, starting 8 August 2009, every Saturday @ 7.30pm, at TOUCH Community Theatre, Bukit Merah.

With this, for those who comes for Sunday's service, please note the following change:

Time: Every Sunday, 9.45am to 1145am. (it's 15 mins earlier)

Bussing time from Boon Lay: 8.45am on Sunday morning.

Personally, I always feel and want to encourgage those of us who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into their life to attend Church service regularly. Nonetheless, some of us has find that the distance to Expo can be a real issue. Now, I thank God that our church has decided to open up a service in Bukit Merah! It's definitely shave away at least an extra 30 mins of travel time each way.

With this new service timing, I really want to challenge those of you who can't make it to expo to come for this Saturday evening service as regularly as possible:

a) Before service start, we can have cell group and dinner together at 6pm.

b) The service will then start and end about 9.30pm.

What do you think?

Life No Take 2

Every quarter of the year, our church will organise a Harvest Event, where we can invite our pre-believing friends to it and open up a way to share the gospel with him or her.

What's a Harvest Event:

The word harvest means the act or process of gathering in a crop, i.e when a farmer plant rice grains in his fields, he has to wait for a few months before the rice riped, and when its ripe, he will gather in the rice during harvest time.

And in Christianity context, we are called to plant seeds of truth into the heart of our pre-believing friends so that one day they may come to know God.

I wil share more biblical truths about planting effectively, but suffice to say, its no easy work mostly. But its something that as follower of Jesus that we should be constantly doing.

Because its an act of obedience towards God's command. Its his will that none should perish. And I promise you, if you faithfully plant, when harvest time come, and God grant you the miracle of seeing your seeds turning into fruits (rice grain to rice). I am sure you will be happier than the 3 uncles in the picture.

In August, we have once such harvest event in the form of a drama play in Mandarin. As a cell group, we will be buying tickets to go on

Each of us start to invite our friends to go for this show.

Pray for our friends tobe open to come. (Be wise: You don't have to tell them its a Christian Harvest event, they won't know what it is, and they probably reject it on first notice.

You could, simply tell them that about this show, and that it's meaningful and enertaining, etc etc... if they asked more, you could say its organised by the church, but the actors are all professional, you would be able to recognise some faces there. : )

Anyway, for many of us, its our first time inviting, so let's do it in faith. Do make yourself available that day too.

Choosing our friends

Hi guys, how are you?

Today, I just want to share with you a simple truth from the Bible. It's the 22nd July today, so I flipped to Proverbs chapter 22, in it a verse stands out strong:

Proverbs 22:24-25 " Do not make a friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared."

The Bible is the truth, because its from God, and God is the truth. You ask yourself, why do I need to know about truth.

Simply because...Our Lord Jesus told us in John 8:32"Then you will know the truth , and the truth will set your free."

Freedom.

Do you like freedom? Let me give you some examples.

Do you want to be free from sadness, mood-swing, uncertainties, inferiority, image-conscious, anger, lack of confidence...etc, you know.. those bad 'stuff' that spoils your day...

One thing is certain in life, our life will never be free from troubles/bad stuff though, but yet as God's children, we can be free from the bondage or the trap or all the negative emotions..

In the first word from Proverbs 22:24-25, we learn an important truth of choosing our friends wisely. If we want to be free from getting angry easily as the example states, we should therefore stay clear of people who get angry easily. Or else, as the word of God suggests, we may get learn to become angry easily and be ensnared(involved).

If you find yourself getting angry easily, the chance of you having friends or family members who can get angry easily regularly are high

So look around yourself, who are the people you come into contact daily, if they are your friends, ask yourself: if you can choose, will they be the one you want to be good friends with for in 5 years time? If not, I suggests you start learning to choose friends wisely.

If its your family member, since we can't choose, let's learn to pray for them and more important pray to God that for protection in your mind. you will be amazed how God will answer your prayer by giving you a stronger, tougher mind. : )

one of my family member used to be very hot-tempered, he is still abit, but God has given me a stronger mind to forgive and to love. i think, through the years of praying, God has also make him to be a better brother , from my perspective. :) Praise God!

During last week sermon, Ps Melvyn Mak (our Church's Deputy Senior Pastor) preached on the subject of "Running on Empty" and he shared a song by Casting Crowns titled "Slow Fade"

Dear Brothers-in-Christ,

Welcome to the Kaya-Butter blog!

The purpose of this blog has 4 simple reasons for us as a body of Christ :

Pray: We will post prayer request pray for the needs for each other, our friends and family , church and for the nations.

Events: Churchwide activities and cell/tribe /congregation events are posted here to inform you of its date and time.

Word: where we will share the Word of God to encourage, to share about God and grow and align ourselves to God's way for us.

Testimony sharings: if any of us has any thanksgiving about God's blessings in our life , we can share it up here too.

The name Kaya-butter is chose because its

a) interesting and easy to remember,
b) it signifies the relevenace to everyday life, that when we eat bread, either kaya or butter are mostly its ingredient. And as followers of God, we should be always stay relevant to our everyday culture.
c) because kaya-butter taste nice in a toasted bread. : )

Dear Father in heaven, we commit this blog into your hands, we pray that you use this as a avenue to help us communicate efficently in certain matters, but not excessively through this as its better that we meet face to face regularly.
